Enhancing Operational Safety and Efficiency in the Gas and Oil Industry

As statistics show, global oil reserves increased by an average of 0.7 million barrels per day in 2023. Despite the Red Sea crisis, global production of liquid fuels is expected to grow by 0.6 million barrels per day in 2024, while international oil consumption will increase by 1.4 million barrels per day over that year. https://navigine.com/blog/how-does-asset-tracking-in-the-oil-and-gas-industry-improve-safety/

The gas and oil industry is a vital component of the global energy supply chain, driving economic growth and providing essential resources. However, the sector faces significant challenges in terms of operational safety and efficiency. As the industry evolves, integrating advanced technologies and robust safety practices becomes paramount to sustaining growth, mitigating risks, and minimizing environmental impact. This blog explores key strategies to enhance operational safety and efficiency in the gas and oil industry, focusing on chemical tank-level monitoring applications.

Ellenex offers a range of contact sensors for chemical tank level monitoring applications, such as the PLC series of corrosion-resistant, submersible level sensors; PLC2 (i.e. IP66) and PLC3 (i.e.IP68), both of which are contact sensors, suitable for use in wastewater, certain acids, and minerals.

The material of the cable is Teflon, and the sensing element could be made of either a Hastelloy diaphragm and process connection or a Ceramic diaphragm and PVDF process connection, depending on the customer's requirement. It is also possible to have the cable length to be customised, irrespective of the measurement range, to conveniently install and mount in tanks of different shapes and sizes. For rectangular (E-Type) enclosures, there are options available for High Capacity Battery (HCB), 12v External Power Socket (EP), and 12v External Power Socket with Battery Backup (EPB). The External High Gain Antenna is another add-on option available for use in remote areas, in cases where both the gain and signal strength are critical. With so many options to select from, the right choice must be made to maximise performance and extend durability. Enhancing operational safety and efficiency in the gas and oil industry is a multifaceted endeavour that requires the integration of advanced technologies, robust safety practices, and sustainable strategies. By embracing digital transformation, ensuring peak machinery efficiency, reducing energy consumption, strengthening safety protocols, enhancing environmental safety, optimizing supply chain management, and investing in R&D, the industry can navigate its complex challenges and achieve long-term success. As the sector continues to evolve, prioritizing these strategies will be crucial for ensuring a safe, efficient, and sustainable future.
